THINK WORLD2

We’re not so different. The thinking is just non-linear, not laid out like an outline, at least that’s not how it starts.  In our work, we start at the beginning – the beginning for us.  The beginning is over there rather than over here. The sound of a fast car – we go there. Step in a puddle; look down.  Hear a bird; look up.  Then let go and give to it. Let go and give. That’s our motto – or it should be. Good work is found in giving. That’s our motto, too.  So, we give to the moment and we go back; back to a time when something was heard or said or done or felt, and it makes us think of something and that something is a solution for your project. Or it’s close. It’s a good idea. It’s a motto. Funny that you should come to mind and that this idea fits with your idea and that it works.

We think about shaping your content everywhere and all the time and what we can bring to your idea through sound or sight or memory.  Sound familiar? That’s because we’re not so different. Those are our tools. A sound, a sight, a memory – we give to it. Then, we’re on board. Then we’re part of the team. We’ve joined the band. We have a motto. To that idea, we give and in giving, we trust.

We think. We think you think, too. Your project doesn’t begin when the cameras turn on. We start here which is sometimes at the end.

The difference is, you’re either thinking of what you can give/contribute or you’re thinking of what you can take.

And if you think this way too/2, you’re in/a part of the Age of Authenticity.

Archives tab/ “Vet-to-Vet”

(r/t: 32-minutes, 44-seconds)

Background

Emblematic of our creative process, “Vet-to-Vet” is a story-narrative that incorporates the inside world of the veterans, the outside world that they live in, and the lessons of the plan they follow in their vet-to-vet teaching course materials. This film illustrates what was a culmination of several years of research on the belief that veterans connecting with other veterans is both beneficial and therapeutic. “Vet-to-Vet” highlights the linear structure of the Vet-to-Vet manual and weaves in an emotional narrative thread. This educational documentary is intended to be shared with a broader community audience in order to educate and reintegrate veterans into the community.

The Collection Tab / “Yellow Bird 2”

(r/t: 1-minute, 26-seconds)

Background

One in a series of the “Veterans Speak” commercial recruitment films, “Yellow Bird” is a part of a media campaign consisting of commercials designed to attract females who have served in the military. The intention of the commercials is to recruit women who have experienced sexual assault in the military for “The S.E.R.V Study” (Survey of Experiences of Returning Veterans), a research study conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The focus of the study was to improve the military experience for women. “Yellow Bird” was intended to target a viewing audience primarily comprised of women who have experienced assault during their service in the military.

Currently in Production tab / “The YDO promotional film” (Youth Development Organization)

(r/t: 10-min and 3-min versions)

Background

A promotional film for the Lawrence-based after-school organization, the hope for YDO was to distinguish their kids and their program from others like it. With this promotional tool, they have sought out funding from foundations and was recently awarded $100,000.00 for their unique and creative efforts in helping children from the inner city of Lawrence, MA.

(r/t: 3-min)

The Archives tab / “CASA deROSA”

(r/t: 15-minutes)

Background

50 years compressed into a 15-minute film, this film was designed for the 50th wedding anniversary of Frank and Jean. Perhaps the most indicative of our process, a story-narrative that blends two worlds; in this case, that of fantasy and reality.

Produced for a husband and wife from “The Greatest Generation”, Frank and Jean lived a life in love, kindness, and in a time of heartfelt American patriotism and arguably, the greatest music a generation has produced to date. Their favorite music and musicians – Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and an actual recording from 1938, a song featuring Jean, who recorded herself singing in 1938 – all woven into the story of this family for them to preserve, share and enjoy for generations to come.

Both born in the era of great film and movie stars and music featured in their film from The Great American Songbook featuring such stars as Irving Berlin, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and other greats of another era.

Jean and Frank married, traveled, experienced life together and were blessed to have children and grandchildren. All along the way, they sang, danced and loved each other deeply and lived inside and outside their world of movies and extraordinary music, as they journeyed on their path together.

Day-1 Tour

Background

Typically, our first meeting we tour and film the at the location where the film project is based. This provides the Director with a visual framework with which to develop a proposal, an outline, while insight into the inner workings of the organization. Moreover, the Director begins the process of laying out the design for the film. Filming gives a sense of where the client is at this early stage and where they ultimately want to go with their project.

This brief tour of the facilities will inform the Director throughout the film process as the outline expands and develops. “The Barn” is footage intended to get a feel for the project and to generate a visual overview for what the film will ultimately become. “Day-1 Shoot” is just that: a general map of what the design will be based upon.

Typically, we shoot and edit a 1-minute clip before we design the outline for the film. “The Barn” is our first-day shoot for what will eventually become a documentary for this client.
